i have same car and after changing battery and terminals i found out it was th oxygen sensor
Could be the relay or bad battery cable connection at the battery or relay.
The starter relay or solenoid is probably the problem.
the relay or the starter motor is stuffed
Sounds like a defective starter, but check your battery cables and connections. Make sure you are getting power at the starter when you turn the key to the start position. Could be a relay too.
There are several ways. Here are the simplist Apply 12 VDC directly to the starter and see if it cranks Jumper or bypass the relay Replace the relay When you try to start the car and you hear a click, it's probably the starter When you try to start the car and it makes no sound it could be several things. I'm assuming you are certain the battery is in good condition and fully charged.
The starter, on your 1998 Dodge neon, is located near the bottom, back, left side of the engine. You can follow the battery cable from the battery to the starter.
Check termenals and starter moter, could become big problem if not fixed.
Check battery, cables, starter, starter solenoid, neutral safety switch
have you checked the cables to see if they are corroided, loose, or broken If your battery is good then it is your starter you will need to replace it.
check battery if it has water and check the starter
Its in the relay box. Next to the battery.
