There are several things that can cause your 1998 Mercury Villager rear fan to stop working. The most common cause is a disconnected or corroded ground wire.
Right inside the roof housing where the air comes out.
The Villager has an electric fan and does not use a "fan belt".
Under the dash.
2004 mercury grand marquis fan stop working
In the relay box in the engine compartment with the other relays.
There are numerous fan ducts in this vehicle, under the dash, under the carpet, and in the roof and side panels.

We need a little more info but typically rear ac not working is due to a bad fan or possibly loss of refrigerant.
My 2000 has an intermittent problem with the rear fan quitting. I found the plug on the fan to be loosing contact.
