Hi,
I am 99% sure that the villager is a non - interferance engine, so they should be ok. The only problem is that I think that the villager came with a timing chain, but it is a Nissan powertrain, so anything is possible. I will look into this and get back to you soon.
No-
YES !!! That model suggests timing belt replacement at 60K miles.
The 2000 Mercury Villager uses a timing belt and has a non-interference engine. Which means that if the timing belt were to break that no engine damage would occur from the valves and pistons hitting each other.
if i remember correctly the 2001 still has an interference engine.....if your timing belt broke you surely pinged some valves.
if the timing belt is broke, then the car wont start. and u probably bent a bunch of valves.
Maybe, it depends on if your engine is an interference engine.
the timing belt on my 2003 galant broke while i was driving and i had it replaced by the dealer. they said it's possibility for the valves to bend. I had no problems after my timing belt was changed Tony
if the timing belt broke while you where driving you need a new motor it smashed the valves and blew the motor
The 3.0 litre V6 engine in a 1994 Mercury Villager has a timing BELT
Timing BELT
The timing belt is inside the timing cover.
My timing belt broke while driving on the freeway. Nothing was damaged. I think that I was lucky though.....
