A 1994 Geo Tracker manual 4x4 Check engine light came on at 150k Now it idles at 2000 rpms car really has 129k?

i have a 1994 geo tracker and i asked the guy at autozone about this. he said that there is a sensor that makes the light come one. you have to disengage the sensor to make it go off. take it up to autozone or any auto shop that does free work and have them do it. 1991 Geo Tracker 4x4, engine will turn, but will not start.
