The fishhook cactus may be either the fishhook barrel cactus (Ferocactus wislizenii) or Mammillaria dioica, also called the strawberry cactus or California fishhook cactus.
A dried up cactus with its needles driven into it, and either seeds, rice, pebbles or beans are filled inside, which is what makes the sound of falling rain. That is what the original rainstick is made from, but u can make it from nails and a tube of some sort with seals at the ends. :)

soak the finger or body part with the thorn in vinegar. It can be either white vinegar or cider vinegar, they both work the same. Or place cotton saturated with vinegar where the thorn is , and leave it in there for 20-30minutes. The thorn will just fall out.
Cactus roots have adapted by burrowing deep to reach water that is not quickly evaporated by surface heat. The stems grow very thick to act as a sort of insulation against evaporative loss. And the leaves have evolved as needles which have a low surface area to reduce evaporation and to deter animals and insects that would pierce the stem to suck moisture from the plant.
The plural form of a turntable needle can be either styli or styluses.

Chlorophyll gives cactus stems their green color. A cactus has chlorophyll because of the stem's photosynthetic interaction with sunlight to make cactus foods. In many other plants, photosynthesis takes place in the leaves. But cactus needles don't offer a large enough surface for photosynthesis to take place or for photosynthetic byproducts to be stored. Instead, needles have reduced surface areas to stop surface evaporation of moisture. So photosynthesis instead must take place within the larger surface area of the stem.
Cactus flowers tend not to be long blooming. Some cactus plants have night flowering blooms. Others have day flowering blossoms. Either way, the flowers need to be pollinated. Once pollinated, the flowers wither and develop the ovary. From the ovary develops the fruit, which produces cactus seeds. The seeds may be used by the cactus to feed the available wildlife and to reproduce.
There is no adaptation of cactus plants underwater. The cactus plant is built to withstand light deprivation if it's a jungle cactus. It's built to withstand moisture deprivation if it's a desert cactus. But either way, the cactus can't tolerate excesses in the fulfillment of its moisture, light and heat requirements.Excess cold and damp soften and blacken cactus tissue. It's an open invitation to fungal problems. No cactus can withstand the large scale softening and blackening of its tissue by being subjected to the constant moisture of underwater living.
The organ pope cactus grows quite tall so either meters or feet would be suitable units to use fore measurement.
