The anti-Federalists or Democratic Republicans, They were not happy with the Constitution because it gave too much power to the federal government at the expense of the individual states. They also were afraid the federal government would trample on the rights of the people so they insisted on adding the Bill of Rights to it just so that it would be clear that the new federal government would not become a new monarchy that was just overthrown.
The Federalists were thrilled with it.

∙ 9y agoThe Federalists wanted the Constitution ratified, while the Anti-Federalists did not. The Anti-Federalists held a variety of individual views, but in general opposed the strong central government proposed in the Constitution.
