There isn't enough (or too much) fuel getting to the engine to keep it runniing. Check for a clogged fuel filter if problem is fuel starvation. Check the throttle linkage (not opening the choke), the carburetor valve needle setting (opened too far) or the fuel float (needle valve stuck open).
There are a couple of reasons why a lawnmower will not stay running or not getting fuel. The carburetor may be clogged up or the lawnmower gas may have water in it.
2003 dodge neon that will start but will not stay running and dies after it starts?
I would suggest running down to your local auto parts store and picking up a timing light. Once your ready to time the blades, jack up the mower, start it, and engage the PTO. Now crawl under the mower deck and shine the light up there.
A very plugged up fuel filter could do that.
The only thing I could add to comments is when running properly . I pump the choke eight times and it will start right up and if the motor dies I'll pump the choke three times it will start right up and I'm on my way to mowing.
1995 Plymouth Voyager will crank up, but when you shift it in gear, it cuts off
MY lawn mower will start to sputter if I run the choke on after the motor is warmed up. It's getting fed too much fuel. Ease off on the choke and it will run better, usually.
the pump stays running as long as it needs to to keep the pressure up. If you think it should not, check for pressure leaks in the fuel system.
Lack of fuel or too much fuel will make the engine stop running. Since you are able to re-start and run for a short while, the problem is probably a clogged fuel filter. You might also want to check the air filter.
A good way to lose weight is to start by running and eating healthier and drinking water. Running speeds up the metabolism and eating healthier is just good for you and water flushes fat and things out of your system. But the most important thing is to stay active and stay motivated
Our 2000 mercury cougar does not start up and stay running. We were told the catalytic converters went out on the engine. Could this be true!
Usually when a car sounds like a mower it isn't running on all cylinders. Try a tune up and if that don't work try the coil if this car has one.
