This is built into the logic of the on board chip. When you purchase a motion detector read the fine print to see what all of the functions are, as these fixtures can be used in many different applications. Some will stay on for 24 hours after a bump and then turn off automatically. Nice for the power company that turned it on in the first place. Some can over ride the automatic detection and can be used as a manual light switch. Best advice is to read the small print on the packaging.
