Apple Snails, like many other snails, have something called an radula. A radula is like a scraping-conveyor belt. similar to the cats tongue it has many small teeth that it uses to scrape microscopic plants and animals and any fruit offered to them.
There's many different kinds of snails, All eat different things. The cone snails eats anything from fish, muscles, even other snails with a harpoon it shoots out. Other snails eat with a radula, which they scrap against a rock to get algae off. Some snail's radula evolved into a shredder type thing, So they scavenge on other dead scraps of marine life and eat that.
The food gets into the snail via its mouth. It's mouth is located underneath the snails head, and can sometimes be difficult to see.
Snails obtain their food by using an abrasive structure in their mouth called the Radula. The Radula functions like a small conveyor-belt and rasps away at surfaces and directs organic matter towards the gullet of the snail.
Turban snails eat algae that grows on rocks. They scrape the algae off with their radula. Turban snails inhabit rocky shores and man-made sea walls. They are not as adapted to dry conditions as other snails and can usually be found near the low-water mark.
