DNA codes for a certain trait are found in cells. There are more than 100 trillion cells and each one has the WHOLE code for a human. In each cell is a nuclei and in that there are 46 genes. 23 from your mother and 23 for your father. In these are the DNA codes. DNA looks like a ladder that has been bent around a few times. The things that look like the steps is the code. Some are the same but others are different.
genes are short lengths of DNA in chromosomes.DNA is made up of :
1.deoxyribose sugar.
2.phosphate group
3.nitrogenous base.
now these bases are of 4 types and their pairing is specific:
Adenine-Thymine , Cytosine-Guanine
the genetic information(ie the trait) is nothing but this base sequence of DNA in a linear order.
genes are a part of DNA comprising the base sequence. and this base sequence specifies a trait.
A section of chromosomes that codes for a trait can be called an gene. A human being has 22 pairs of autosomes and 1 pair sex chromosomes.
