Regardless, all animals in zoos are kept to educate the public, and especially in the case of lemurs, they act as insurance against extinction in the wild. In the wild, many lemur species are seed dispersers, thus benefiting the forests in which they live.
All species are beneficial to their natural environment. The only time a species is harmful is when it's invasive (introduced and taking over).
