There are many programs run by different organizations, some working together, while others are working alone. But all the programs are attempting to raise the birth rate for Pandas. These efforts are coordinated through the Wolong National Nature Reserve set up by the Chinese government. This Panda program is working with the World Wildlife Fund in research and genetics, among other issues concerning the Pandas. For more details, please see the sites listed below.

The San Diego Zoo, in California has had the Giant Pandas since 1987. There are now five Giant Pandas with a young Panda that was birthed on site, just being introduced to visitors. There are also Giant Pandas at the National Zoo in Washington DC, the Atlanta Zoo, in Georgia, and the Memphis Zoo in Tennessee. All these zoos have contracts with the Chinese government, and pay a yearly fee to keep the Giant Pandas at their zoo. For more details, please see the sites listed below.

yea the animals have to be free and not be confined to cages they try simulate nature but not the space animals need space
NO, animals do not have rights. We are doing things against their will but not against their non-existant rights.
It would be foolish to assume that animals are the same as humans as we are clearly different.
Besides animals inflict pain on others all the time, we are not exempt unless you can prove we are not animals. All animals have the will to live but not the rights, or else there would never be carnivores.
Rights are a purely human concept, it does not exist naturally, if humans were not present there would be no rights. IT is up to people to decide on what rights are.
And I'm sure animals feel pain and emotions, evolutionally it probably helped them survive, but this a matter of opinion
If i was taught dogs liked being kicked and that it was the right thing to do i would be doing it right now and it would be the right thing.
What if an animal loved to be hurt, humans have BDSM and it can be assumed that some animals also do. How can a person decide for the animal?
Animals rights do not benefit humans in any way, rather it harms humans that depend on animals, maybe not you but what about the poor, hungry, or farmer? I rather have people love me than animals as people can judge and comment on my morality.

It depends. If the zoo holds an endangered species they would usually breed it and give it back to the wild.

Would you be happy in a cage? No. Some zoos are horrible places just set up for cheap entertainment. But some have wide open spaces and really help save animals from extinction. As long as the animal keeps all its skills of the wild than zoos will survive legally. But zoos can turn into a death trap if desease breaks out. lol sabby

Depending on the zoo, how large it is, species of the animals and how naturally social they are, usually most often animals of the same species are the ones most likely to live together. However, if an animal is naturally solitary, it is penned and held by itself. Rarely would you get animals that are not naturally found to coexist in the wild living together.
An example is the trio of the black bear, lioness and tiger that have been living together in peaceful harmony for over 10 years--ever since they were cubs--when they were rescued from drug dealers that had abused and neglected them and taken to Noah's Ark, an animal rescue center in Georgia. It's unusual because both the bear and the tiger are solitary creatures, and yet they can, have and continue to live together, play together and eat together in peaceful coexistence.

On average tigers will live for 10 to 15 years out in the wild and 16 to 20 years in captivity.

Ellen S. Dierenfeld of the New York Zoological Society actually surved a number of zoos in the US and found that the average cheetah in captivity consumed about 1.32 kg (just under 3 pounds) of food daily. That's a little over 482 kg per year. It's estimated that this is approximately the same amount that cheetahs eat in the wild also.
Cheetahs are carnivores, so figure out what 482 kg of meat would cost, and you'll have a ballpark answer. If you can get meat for $3 a pound, it's about $3200.
10 of the 13 zoos surveyed fed their cheetahs a specific product (Nebraska Brand Canine Diet ... we know, they're not "canines", but it turns out it's a pretty good food for them; it's somewhat higher in protein and lower in fat than their "Feline Diet" product) supplemented with the occasional (1-2 times a week) whole chicken or rabbit, or the shank or ribs from an ox or horse.

it depends on the zoo but, generally, zoos in the US take very good care of their animals.

(Please note that this took me one hour to figure out, and this is Zoo Tycoon DS original)
-First, got to the Lists menu
-Then go to the Animal list
-There are five pictures with #'s next to them
-They are a smiley face (happiness), bananas(hunger), medical kit (health), and last but not least there is a little tree; THIS IS THE ANSWER TO ALL SUITABILITY PROBLEMS! Thank God!!!
-What you have to do is for a rating for 85, keep those numbers higher than 85 I would imagine, and keep them up to 90 or less for a 90 rating.
-To bring these numbers up you must have the patience to toy around with foliage, terrain, rocks, shelters, and just moving stuff around.
-If saw any animal lower than 80, I sold it.
-If no matter what I tried and still could not get it above 85 or 90, then I completely made a new exhibit. (GiariffeGiraffe was at 84 no matter what i did, even buying new ones, so i changed it to a rhino exhibit.)
----- I really hope this helps, bcause i killed myself trying to find answer to this, but it just wasn't working out.

Many animals are born with serious mental and physical problems as well as not being able to produce and they can become mentally ill. If enough of this happened, the animals could be extinct. SO DON'T FORCE BREED. ;)
