The Bronx is the northernmost borough in New York City. It is 42 square miles. The area took a decline in the 1920s and 30s due to gang activity during prohibition. The area continued to decline through the 1980s, and was considered one of the most neglected areas of the United States. Revitalization began in the late 1990s, and the area is now growing again.
