MRI is great for seeing soft tissue injuries in 3D. The doctors will be able to see what is happening with one scan that doesn't use radiation. Getting enough information to diagnose you with x-rays would involve positioning you in many different angles and taking lots of photos. If you cannot bend or squat getting the correct positioning for an x-ray could be difficult and painful. MRI really is the best option and saves you repeated x-ray radiation doses.
