It makes it difficult for intercourse since the glands surrounding the vagina tightens up specially if the vagina is not used to intercourse. And when there is pain it will worsen the condition. At the same time the vagina should be moist enough for the penis to slip inside. Sometimes the entrance of the vaginal opening will be tight but inside it will be normal.
Even I had the same problem since 2 and a half years. My husband was very cooperative and he would never force me. But I was not able to have intercourse even once. So we went to the gynac and she suggested me to use a cream which i had to apply on the glands surrounding my vaginal opening. The main function of this cream is that it will make your glands numb so you won't feel the pain when you are having intercourse. The name of this cream is Lidocaine Ointment 5% m/m. Once you apply this wait for 10 minutes and then ask your husband to penetrate. But it will be better if you ask your husband to lie down and you try to push the penis through the opening. This will help you to control and you can also stop if it pains. Also if you can use KY Jelly if your vagina does not generate more liquid. This will help the penis to slip in the vaginal opening. You should apply KY jelly in and around the vaginal opening.
The doctor also suggested me to use Emulsifying Ointment BP. This also you should ask your husband to apply on the penis. This is not harmful at all but you can use this only if you are not allergic, you should not have Asthma or hay fever. You cannot use this if you are pregnant. This should be used as a soap while bathing since the soap may worsen the condition. So only on the vagina you should apply Emulsifying Ointment BP and wash instead of using the soap.
We were successful in having intercourse after 2 and a half years and can now plan happily for a baby.
