You may have to check the wiring and connections. It may be a damaged wire or a loose connection in the dash. It might even be the actual speedometer in with the guage cluster. Hope this helps some.
The 1992 Chevrolet S 10 speedometer sensor is on the back of the transmission. The sensor should be labeled as such.
if i remember correctly they did not start using an electronic speedometer in f150's till 1992 so your vehicle should still have a mechanical speedometer which has a cable ran down to your transmission. the sensor on the rear differential on those models is an abs sensor on 92 and later its the abs and speed sensor.
The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is located on the transaxle / transmission at the speedometer cable connection. This is on the vehicle's left towards the firewall. Looking down just in front of the brake master, on the right of the battery, it should be visible.
Should be tailshaft area trans.
Yes it would because it also controls the speedometer and odometer, change it and that should fix your problem.
The speedometer sensor is lovande On rop tight of the tranny, loosen The vilt and lift The sensor up, there should be a O-ring so be careful when you lift it up! then sand The sensor genre and clean it carefully. Done!
Replace the vehicle speed sensor, this should show up as code PO500
When this happened with my '00 Civic, it was a malfunctioning vehicle speed sensor (VSS). They typically fail any time after 115,000 miles. The part should be on top of the differential housing.
If memory serves me correctly the speedometer is driven by a gear which is on the transmission, looking down from the top of the engine (below the airbox) should be a 2 wire sensor which is screwed into the transmission case.
Speed sensor. There is not a cable on this car.
assuming your talking about the sensor that operates the speedometer, there should only be 2.
You need to replace the speed sensor. It sends a signal to the speedometer and also sends a signal to the transmission on when it should shift.
