A colt can potentially breed a mare by the time it turns 2 (some colts even earlier). Most colts this young could not successfully defeat a mature breeding stallion (in the wild)
Some horse breeders will use a colt for breeding at a relatively young age. Many breeders will not use a colt until it turns 4. Colts are considered mature (and are therefore stallions) at the age of 5.
Fertility, maturity and sexual interest in colts is different for each colt and many 2 and 3 year old colts are still clapping their mouths in submission to
mares like immature colts and foals.
Mares can be bred and foal into their mid twenties. Older maiden mares are generally more difficult to get in foal than breeding sound older broodmares that have foaled many timesl
The term for male horses of breeding age (5 years and above) is stallion.
When looking for a stud dog for mating, one should consider the qualities in which the offsprings would possess. The breeding age and health of the stud dog should also be considered as well.
It depends on whether you are buying the goat for meat or for breeding. For breeding, prices can vary depending on whether it is a registered stud animal, whether it is a buck or a doe (pregnant or non-pregnant) and its size and age.
well, first of all a stallion is not a breed of horse. A stallion is a male horse that has not yet been gelded, or can still reproduce. You must be 18 to handle a stallion. A Clydesdale is a breed and my be a mare, gelding, stallion, fillly ect.

A breeding male is called a stud during mating season and a sire on the registration papers of his progeny.

The age for breeding a horse does not go by breed. All mares should wait until they are a minimum of two to three years old before they are bred. That said, only mares and stallions with excellent conformation, a good show record, and a nice temperament should ever be bred. Just because it can produce foals doesn't mean it should.
Colts can begin to sire foals at a very early age - some around a year old. However, most are not fertile enough until age 2. Most breeders wait until a colt is 3 or 4 before breeding him so that he is mentally able to deal with the challenges of breeding. i think 2 and 1/2
Younger mares and mares with good uterine characteristics tend to foal earlier than older mares. With age the uterus tends to be compromised to a greater or lesser degree which slows the development of the foal and increases gestation.
Your mares are old enough to be ovulating and studs are capable of producing foals as yearlings. I suggest separating him and, if your plan is to let him cover the mares, wait until they are three. As three year olds, the mares are more mature and have a larger pelvis. It is easier for their bodies to provide energy to the fetus (and later milk for the foal) while growing at a slower rate and the foals are friendlier when they're out of a mare who's already under saddle.
