AMERICAN COCKER SPANIEL
The Gosselins got the puppies from a breeder. Information about the location of the breeder, name, and kennel name were not revealed on 'Jon and Kate plus 8.'
check the kennel club the dog is registered in. www.akc.org is the American Kennel Club's website. If the dog's from that kennel club, you follow the links to the pedigrees. You should be able to order it if you have the registration information for your dog. If you have not been provided AKC registration papers for your puppy from the breeder or you have acquired an older dog you believe to be a purebred you can register him/her with an AKC Indefinite Listing Privelege (ILP) registration. The dog must be neutered or spayed for this but can compete in AKC competitons other than conformation showing. You can find requirements and forms at AKC.org.
Check the Kennel Club website to find a responsible pedigree breeder, who will have had their breeding dogs checked for hereditary disease before breeding. This ensures that you get a 100% healthy, happy puppy. Do not accept a puppy without first seeing it's mother, and be wary of puppy mills - which will sell you a sick puppy, usually with forged pedigree certificates. The Kennel Club will be able to put you in touch with a responsible breeder.
Visit the Kennel Club website and look at the Accredited Breeder Scheme. This list includes breeders that have their breeding premises annually checked by inspectors and have their puppies screened for hereditary diseases.
The breeder may consider offering you at least a partial refund if you threaten to complain to the American Kennel Club. Barring that, send all the pertinent information to American Kennel Club Case Management Dept. PO Box 900066 Raleigh, NC 27675. They will contact the breeder on your behalf.
