Health class! Sorry, couldn't resist.

It's a Central Nervous System depressant. CNS as in "brain and nerves," depressant as in "slows and suppresses." Drink too much and it depresses your breathing and heartbeat too much; you die.

Some people drink alcohol to feel happy, but even if you love the feeling at the time, you feel better then only because it disconnects your energy bodies from your physical body so you lose touch with your feelings and rational thought.

Overall, however, alcohol will bring your mood down. Partly because you'll be poisoned (literally) the next morning from the toxic alcohol and the formaldehyde (yeah, what it splits into in your blood stream is the lethal form of alcohol and the stinking chemical they preserve dead body parts in.) If you drank enough to feel tipsy or drunk, add in the dehydration and headache, the embarrassment of what you said and did, the consequences to your relationships and/or your car, and...

You thought alcohol was a pick-me-up? Nope. Definitely a CNS depressant!
