HDMI cables are not better than component cables. They are different and the HDMI interface provides features that are not available on analog component interfaces. HDMI absolutely does not automatically result in better quality images. HDMI carries a component signal for television. It's often the same component signal that analog cables carry other than the fact that it is in a digital form. The information it carries is the same as analog component. In both cases, the image quality is dependent on the signal that is output and not the type of interface. HMDI can also carry a wide range of signal formats and it is now the only domestic connector that is compatible with HD signals. Although there is an HD analog component interface, it is never seen on domestic equipment for one reason. HDMI interfaces allow copy protection systems (HDCP) to be used so that uesrs cannot extract the signal and record it. Analog HD component signals cannot be protected in the same way. The restriction to HDMI is the industry's way of protecting content and reducing piracy. HMDI is also more convenient in that it carries video audio and control data as wel as allowing players and televisions to talk to each other. It reduces set up time and reduces the number of cables behind the equipment. HDMI is limited to short lengths. Although long cables can be purchased, they are expensive ad bulky. Analog component (and other digital component signals) can be run far greater distances without problem. There are now HDMI extenders that use low cost CAT5 cables to run signals up to 100 feet or more and these often work out less expensive than long HDMI cables.
24/28 AWG is the thickness of the wire used in the conductors, AWG stands for American Wire Gauge, and is a measurement of how many conductors can be wrapped around a cylinder next to each other in one inch. Therefore, the 24 AWG wire is slightly thicker. There is no need for thicker wire in HDMI cables, however, as it is the quality of sheilding and the connectors that determine the cables ultimate quality. You shouldn't have to pay any more than $20.00 for a 6 foot HDMI cable.
DVI and HDMI cables are similar and compatible for digital video signals. HDMI also carries audio while DVI does not. If a DVI cable, connector or adapter is used anywhere in the signal path, the audio signal will be lost. As many computers have a DVI output and most televisions have HDMI inputs, it is common to find at least one HDMI input on a television with a linked analog audio input. It is usually a 3.5mm jack socket near the HDMI connector. To make use of it, the television's menu setting allows either HDMI or analog audio to be selected. Consult your television user manual for full details.
HDMI cables can carry audio but it is in digital format only. Any HDMI connector will be capable of carrying the audio content and any input should be capable of receiving and processing the audio in digital format. There should normally be no need to use analog audio with HDMI but there is one notable exception. HDMI shares the same video interface format as DVI, the digital display output used on computers. However, DVI does not support audio so a cable that links a DVI output to an HDMI input will not carry audio. For this reason, many new televisions have at least one HDMI input that also has an analog audio input associated with the HDMI port. This is specifically provided to cater for DVI + analog audio as delivered by many computers.

The 3 COMPONENT cables are to be used if you don't have the HDMI connector.
In the age of High Definition, people need to be equipped with the data cables in order to watch videos on different devices. An HDMI to HDMI connection is not always possible between two devices. Fortunately, there are different solutions such as VGA and DVI to HDMI cables, which allow for the connection between an older desktop computer and an HDTV. Similarly, mini HDMI to HDMI cables are used in connecting digital cameras and camcorders to HDTVs.
HDMI cables are used to connect camcorders to hdtv.
Component Cables should be used only when an HDMI connection is not available. You made the question harder to answer by making your component cables higher quality sounding than you did the HDMI. Good cables are felt to be important and there are poor quality HDMI cable that cost more to ship than to purchase. There are even 3D quality HDMI cables now being sold. Actually most gaming will not require the technology that is required in a Blu Ray 3D disc connected to a top of the line 3D HDTV to watch a movie on your PlayStation 3
High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cables are generally used for connecting computer based devices to your television. S video cables are used to connect traditional DVD players, video recorders to television sets.
You don't. You either connect the PS3 to your HDTV with HDMI and the Comcast box to your HDTV with HDMI cables like I used to have or you connect the PS3 and Comcast Box with HDMI cables like I did to my home theater and then connect the home theater to the HDTV with a HDMI cable. My Comcast box is HD and I have a Sony HDTV and Sony Home Theater equipped with a HDMI repeater. If you are talking about connection for the internet it is not done with a HDMI cable, but an ethernet cable
There are several types of video cables. These types include: coaxial cables, HDMI cables, component video,S-Video, and standard video cables. There are used to connect the various pieces of equipments that we use today.
