All your kittens have fleas how can you get rid of the fleas without harming the 1 wk old kittens. Also you think they got them from mama kitty?

Do NOT use the same flea medication that you use on adult cats! That medication is a poison that seeps into the blood stream through the skin, so when the fleas bite they get the poison. A dose of this is too much for a young kitten. Take the kittens and use warm water to lather them up thick in puppy shampoo and wrap tight in a towel for at least 5 minutes. Rinse them well and blow dry on a low setting. This suffocates the fleas. Also, go through their fur with a flea comb (can be purchased at any pet store)I have done this to many kittens at all ages, and this method was recommended to me by not one but two DVMs. Do not let the kitten sit there wet, so blow drying immediately is important A puppy shampoo is FINE to use on a kitten. Also, it is assinine to think that a kitten will sit in a towel until they're dry, use the blow dryer.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont do any of that to a one week old kitten! First NEVER use a puppy product on a kitten! Next, DO NOT get them wet, kittens can get too cold very quickly. Just treat the mother with Revolution, Advantage, any monthy flea medication from your vet and the mother will pass enough to the kittens in her milk to help them get rid of the fleas. GO NOT use anything that you would purchase at a Wal*Mart or other store that is not your vet. The Hartz flea drops can kill your cat! Once the kittens are about 5 to 6 weeks, if they still have a few fleas, give them a bath and use IVORY soap and a flea comb, be sure to dry them VERY well after and keep them wrapped and warm until they are dry. Revolution has a kitten formula that you can use once the kittens reach 8 weeks of age.
Yes, I too would not recomend using any type of Flea treatment on the little baby kittens. I myself did bathe my kittens, but at 2 1/2 weeks old. I bathed them with Johnson's baby shampoo, and let the shampoo sit on them for around 5 mins. and it did kill alot of the fleas. Also, I had to make sure they where kept warm, b/c they can lose their body heat very, very easily!!!! Also, I did this in the summer months so I did have an advantage of the warm weather. This did reduce/kill most of the fleas, at least enough that they would not become aniemic and die form the fleas.

Oh my, it sounds like your kitten needs to see a doctor right away! Baby kittens can get dehydrated but can't drink enough to get hydrated. The vet can give the kitty some fluid by a needle until the dr figures out what is wrong. Babies often get fleas if the mom has fleas. But fleas on a baby can make them get anemic. Again, the vet will help you fix this. And the vet can check the stool. Often if a baby kitty or any cat has fleas, they also have worms.I sure hope your kitty survived.

The inappetance (no appetite) and lack of drinking and urination may just mean she has no energy to eat and drink and is getting dehydrated.Since this is an old question, I hope you took kitty to a vet to get rehydrated first.
