have the battery tested, average life of a battery is 2 to 3 years. if battery is good check voltage regulator and starter motor. there is a short somewhere if the battery is good
If you have no power to anything, and your battery isn't dead, then you more likely have a bad ground. If the battery is dead/keeps dying, there's a good likelihood that the alternator isn't charging it adequately.
Check for a loose ground.
The Alternator might be bad. Make sure the battery terminals are clean, and the wires are good. If you still have a problem check the fuses.
It could be two things. As you know, the alternator charges the battery so it will not drain. If the alternator is not working properly to charge the battery, the battery will continuously drain. Have the alternator tested at your local Auto Parts store (NAPA or Advance Auto) If it is good, have the battery checked.
If the alternator is good then the battery is bad.
Either the alternator/regulator has situation dependant problems such as opens with heat or vibrational malfunctions or there is a problem with an internal charging control in the engine computer
Yes. an alternator can be good but you can still have charging problems if:- 1.Battery is no good. 2.Fan belt slack or worn. 3.Poor or broken wiring connections at alternator. 4.Loose or dirty battery conections. 5.poor or broken wiring between alternator and battery. 6.Alternator rating not large enough for application.
If you can get your vehicle started you can then un hook the battery while it is running and if your vehicle stays running then your alternator is good. If it stalls and dies as soon as you unhook the battery then the alternator is not good.If you can get your vehicle started you can then un hook the battery while it is running and if your vehicle stays running then your alternator is good. check your battery ground and your alternator ground
The alternator doesn't care. It provides power no matter if the battery is good, weak, or not even there.
triple diodes in alternator are bad
If the alternator is good and the battery does not charge, then the battery may be bad. There could be problem with the electronics. You will need to take it to a place where they sell batteries. They have equipment to check out the battery and the wiring.
