Try smelling a genuine silver item and then compare it to other (perhaps supposedly) silver items. Isopropyl alcohol does, indeed, give off a fairly strong odor as it evaporates... but airing the place out would rectify this. The odor would be gone fairly quickly as isopropanol evaporates pretty fast. This odor isn't like nail polish remover, which is primarily acetone.
No; you have to stay clean. Some people have a naturally strong odor and have to use an antiperspirant or deodorant. Diet can help too. When I became a vegetarian my body odor went away!
