I worked for a casino for 51/2 years. in oct of 2008 we had what you would call a sidewalk sale. I picked out my items PAID for them and the cashier gave me an discount when i asked her about it she said that the department manager said that it was ok.I thought nothing more of it. until a month later i was being questioned by the state police for retail theft. i made my statement and i thought that it was over until i was later questioned by human resource. i pretty much said the same thing to both of them, i had no ideal that i would receive a discount from the cashier. all of that was over i came in to work. workied ALL day the nxt day i was off wich was 12-04-2008 they called me in for addional questioning when i got there i was placed under arrest. my bond was set at $3000 but i had to pay only 10% of that plus i had to get a lawyer which was an extra $1000 that i did not have. well there were other emlpyee who also received a discount and NOTHING happened to them. they were questioned and let go.not only was i terminated but i had to stand trial for mis. retail theft.

If you commit a crime, then you're breaking the law. If you call breaking the law a crime, then yes, you're committing a crime by committing a crime.Added; A criminal act is composed of two conscious acts: The Mens Reus (the criminal intent) and the Actus Reus (the criminal act). By committing the act you are completing the 2nd part of the offense necessary to convict you - therefore YES, you are engaged in committing a crime. But it's still a paradox. If you commit a crime by committing a crime, then wouldn't you be committing a crime for the committed crime for committing a crime> It goes on forever, but then final answer is YES.
