A comet
A comet is an object composed mainly of ice that orbits the sun in an elliptical path. Comets are made up of dust, rock, and frozen gases, and they develop a glowing coma and tail when they are close to the sun due to the heating and vaporization of their icy components.
A small body that follows a highly elliptical orbit around the sun is a comet. Comets are icy objects that originate from the outer regions of the solar system and periodically enter the inner solar system, creating a bright coma and tail when they approach the sun.
Most likely comets.
The planets and other rocky and icy junk in our Solar system are always, every second, orbiting the Sun.
The small body that circles the sun with a high elliptical orbit is a comet. Comets are icy bodies that originate from the outer regions of the solar system and can develop bright tails as they pass close to the sun.
Icy leftover planetesimals orbiting the Sun are typically found in the outer regions of the solar system, beyond Neptune. These objects, such as Kuiper Belt objects and scattered disk objects, are remnants from the early stages of the solar system's formation and are composed primarily of ice and rock. Some of them are known as dwarf planets, such as Pluto and Eris.
A body with a solid head and a long vaporous tail orbiting the Sun is commonly known as a comet. The solid head is called the nucleus, made up of ice, dust, and rocky materials. As the comet approaches the Sun, the heat causes the icy nucleus to vaporize, creating a glowing coma and a tail that always points away from the Sun due to solar wind and radiation pressure.
Comet.
That description could fit any number of bodies in the solar system, but generally "asteroid" might be closest. Other more distant objects such as comets or Kuiper Belt Objects would tend to be more icy than rocky.
Earth is a large, solid planet with a well-defined orbit around the sun, while a comet is a much smaller, icy body that orbits the sun in an elongated, elliptical path. Comets can develop spectacular tails as they approach the sun due to the heat causing the icy material to vaporize, whereas Earth does not exhibit such phenomena.

Comets are just very icy asteroids, they become comets when a large enough of a body of mass, i.e. jupiter or saturn. When this happens, the asteroid gets thrown into an extremely high elliptical orbit. They ideally have an orbit perpindicular to the ecliptic.
