Some reasons that animals do not survive is that some owners or people responsible for the animal are careless. Another reason is because some animals can die of starvation or eating something unhealthy or something with a deadly virus but people everywere are trying to prevent causes like that to help the animals that need it. But dont forget animals are just like us you just have to look in there eyes!
The same reason they're important today. People need something to believe in. We don't call them "myths" now, though. We call it "religion", just like they did back then.
