When an animal passes an infection it is either a vector for a parasite such as ringworm or has a zoonotic disease which means it's an illness transferable to humans. I believe that sarcoptic(either that or demodectic) mange is zoonotic as well as Toxoplasmosis(rabbit and cat feces), Tuberculosis(if you consume or touch a goldfish then your mouth), Salmonella from amphibians and reptiles, meningitis from Apple Snails although hardly anyone carries them any more. Luckily, lice are species specific and will not transfer from animal to human. Rabies is always a concern with racoons, bats, dogs etc... Cat scratch fever....guess there are a few. Also, any animal is a potential source of infection if someone is bitten or scratched and neglects would treatment, of course.
