Ethnic groups originated from various regions around the world, often influenced by historical migrations, conquests, trade, and environmental factors. For example, Indigenous peoples in the Americas descended from ancient populations who migrated from Asia across the Bering Strait. In Europe, ethnic groups such as the Celts, Slavs, and Germans emerged from complex interactions over millennia, including the spread of languages and cultures. Similarly, in Africa, diverse ethnicities developed through a combination of migration, adaptation to different environments, and historical trade routes, leading to the rich tapestry of cultures present today.

The Roma, one of Europe's oldest minorities, have endured a long history of discrimination and disadvantage throughout Europe, which has only recently begun to be acknowledged and addressed. The Roma form one of the largest ethnic minority groups in Europe. Nearly 80% of the European Roma population (around 10 million people) live in EU Member and candidate Member States (Amnesty International 2010a). holidayhelpme.com

These tribes played significant roles in shaping the cultural and ethnic landscape of the region. Over time, many of these groups evolved or merged, contributing to the diverse populations seen in Eastern Europe today.
The groups 100 years ago came here to leave their past and become American. Many of those coming today wish to be 'whatever-Americans' and refuse to wholly join in the American cause, preferring instead to remain primarily members of their ethnic group. Past immigrants came to join and improve us. This is no longer the case.
