THERE ARE NO "ATOMS IN A ORBIT." THERE ARE ELECTRONS IN ORBITALS. ATOMS DO NOT ORBIT.

in every energy level there are different kinds of sublevel and in every sublevel there are orbitals, this is where the electrons are located. the first energy level has one sublevel , the second energy level has 2., thus 1 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 4 or 4th, 5 for 5th 6 for 6th., all the suble vels are in the order of s p d f., if there are more electrons you can add

g h i j., s contains 2 electrons. p contains 6, d contains 10., f contains 14., in every orbital electron flow in a certain orbit., an orbit of their own which only contains 2 electrons that spin in different ways.,

hopoe your satisfied., :)

There is no maximum since satellites can orbit at any altitude, but it could sure get crowded. For geostationary satellites that appear to hang over the same point on Earth, there is just one ring and international agreements control the orbital location to prevent overcrowding. Some distance must be left between satellites to prevent interference and collisions, and the satellites are clustered over the US, Europe and China-Japan. For a GREAT realtime view of this see: http://science.NASA.gov/Realtime/jtrack/3d/JTrack3D.html

About 560

The exact number cannot be known. Countries have placed satellites in space secretly for intelligence gathering. In addition they may break up, each part then becomes a separate satellite.

If you mean orbitals then there is no limit. In practise for ground state elements the heaviest elemnt ununoctium which has recently been made has 118 electrons and it is believed these are in 59 orbitals.

From Wikipedia:

327 bodies are formally classified as moons [natural satellites]. They include 165 orbiting six of the eight planets, 6 orbiting three of the five dwarf planets, 104 asteroid moons, and 58 satellites of Trans-Neptunian Objects some of which will likely turn out to be dwarf planets.

There are approximately 560 currently functional satellites in orbit, there are around 8000 total man made satellites in orbit. The SSN tracks everything in orbit over the size of 10cm and in its history has tracked over 26000 objects to date.

How many satellites are there and how high do they orbit?

There are currently 32 GPS satellites Orbiting earth at 20,000Kms above sea level There are also 24 GLONASS satellites (The russian version of a GPS satellite) Which many high end GPS receivers will use in conjunction with the standard GPS satellites. These orbit a little lower than GPS at arond 19,000Kms above sea level. There are 4 Galileo Satellites, which are currently un used, but are the start of the European satellite constealltion which is a work in progress. They orbit at 24,000Kms above sea level. On top of all that, there are 10 Chinese navigation satellites called COMPASS orbiting in an orbit above China and Asia. They orbit at around 21,000 Kms above sea level.
