In this age of computers and global trade all cars are pretty reliable up to about 150,000 miles if they are reasonably cared for. If you are considering purchasing a car see what you can find out about it's maintenance records such as where do they take it for oil changes. Those places maintain a history of the Vehicle Identification number and can usually tell you. Also get a carfax on the vehicle to learn if it has been in an accident or had the mileage altered. Last but not least check out Edmonds.com and see what other owners say about their experiences with the same type of car. On this issue though read it with an open mind. SOme folks are happy if the car just gets them to work, others don't like any car.
