No, only when they think someone is one their territory or something. Mine barks at people walking on the sidewalk or when she hears a doorbell on tv. When she sees people on the sidewalk she only barks, she never attacked anyone in the three years she lived with us. But, I do warn you, Rat Terriers pick one person to be their owner. They are still friendly to everyone they meet, they just like that one person more.
Most of the time no but when they are excited they squeal, when they are anxious (separation usually causes it but they calm down once you're gone), sometimes when they meet someone (This only happened to mine when he met someone with a mustache and goatee), when they play they like to growl and run around, and on very rare occasions they bark at nothing (I think he senses something I can't).
Rat terriers bark a lot but with lots of training and attention, they will not bark too much
Not usually

I suppose so. Border Terriers were originally bred as fox and vermin hunters
Patterdale terriers, unfortunately, are not hypo-allergenic. However, many terriers are, including Scottish terriers, Welsh Terriers, Irish terriers, and Border Terriers.
