No because they can be very aggresive to other dogs if not trained properly, but if they are trained well, they can be friendly to small dogs.
Answer: The previous answer is not true, mastiffs are very people friendly and dog friendly. They will only attack if they feel threaten by the person/dog. True some training does play a role in how they treat others. Some dogs just have different personalities or traits. You need to test out how they will react to the children by doing certain tests, first have the dog be on one side of a fence and your child be on the other, see how the dog reacts to the child then. If there are no signs of aggression then put the dog on a leash, have the child, from about five feet away from the dog's reach, walk back and forth around the dog. If there are no signs of aggression, I believe it is safe to introduce the dog to your child. Just remember dogs are instinctively protective over their food and some possessions, so feed your dogs away from other animals, children, etc.
I have two mastiffs and they are the friendliest dogs I have ever had. There is just something about them, they would do anything to protect their owner and you have a life long bond with them. They are very loyal and great dogs. I recommend them to anyone.
Answer
They are fine with small dogs, by their very nature they are a calm dog, they are not normally aggressive. However, as with ANY breed of dog they should be properly trainded and socialised. I am a member of mastiff forum, they have loads of photos of members Mastiffs, and plenty of these people have small dogs. There is one very cute photo of a HUGE male mastiff, laid down, enjoying 2 jack russle puppies climb all over his face. I own 1 of these amazing creatures (Mastiff), the biggest worry I would have with a Mastiff and a tiny dog, is the little 1 getting stood on, but as I have said, plenty of people have a mastiff and a small dog with no trouble atall. A mastiff sees it as his job to project his pack, and that includes any other pets you have. Answer
I have an English Mastiff myself, and he is great with children. We have a neighbor who has 4 kids and he gets along perfectly with them. Some people mistake an English Mastiff playing and think they are fighting, prior to the reason they are so big, but that is how they play with others. But yes, in my opinion, i think that they are perfect with children.

Yes, Mastiffs, like other big dogs, are gentle giants. (Think St Bernard or Lab) And they will jump in front of a bullet for you if you treat them nice.
A well-socialized Mastiff treats normal strangers with polite aloofness but will step between you and anyone or anything that seems threatening.
Temperament is affected by a number of factors, including heredity, training, and socialization.
Though it does depend on how they were reared, as with most large dogs, they're gentle giants :) They may be large, slobbery and occasionally clumsy, but I'd prefer a mastiff to a terrier :) I always say, "The larger the dog, the nicer the personality" :)
yes , english mastiff can get along with other dogs
if you train them from a little puppy to be nice to kids they should be good but remember ever dog is different. one of the best dogs for kids would be the golden retriever
We have one and she is gentle and very loving couldn't ask for a better dog
yes english mastiffs shed hair but extremly little to the extend where you probably wont find it.
Yes!!!!!!!!! i have one and we have to vacume everyday!!!
They drool A LOT! Consider this when thinking about purchase!
Mastiff is derived from a Latin word for tame. They were originally a very gentle breed bred for pulling carts and protecting the family. Later they were bred to be more aggressive and to bulk up other breeds for war and the gladiator arenas.
Not if they are trained correctly.
Yes it can,But if you have a cane corso mastiff i wouldn't breed it to a american, english,or pyrenean mastiff because those types of mastiffs are the largest of all mastiffs. ;)
Bull Mastiffs and English Terriers. A mommy and daddy pitbull.
No he is an English mastiff which tend to be larger than bull mastiffs
Not really, but some are very protective of small children.
No.
I own a English Mastiff named Henry. He weighs 195-200 pounds. But, 190-200 is the healthy weight.
