Asian-Americans shouldn't really belong to a single Asian-American culture to begin with. If anything, notice how there are many groups separated by their ethnicities.Korean-AmericansVietnamese-AmericansChinese-AmericansJapanese-AmericansFilipino-Americansheck even TAIWANESE-Americans.So the answer would be no, they do not belong in a single category.
There is no simple answer to this question! Filipinos are an Austronesian ethnic group native to the islands of the Philippines. The Filipino People are of Asian and Pacific Descent, through their Austronesian Ancestors. The Philippine Islands are considered Asian, simply because of their geographic location in Southeast Asia. Their culture is considered by some to be Pacific Islander, however, others claim their culture is unique due to their Austronesian heritage. As for race, the Philippine Islands are known to be one of the most diverse countries in Asia. This diversity includes influences from Spain, China, India, Japan, the Arab nations, and America. The 2010 US Census included the Philippine Islands/Filipino in the Asian category.

Because many of them do not know their history. Also, many think that saying they are Pacific Islanders is more cool or exotic. They are Asian and have a lot of history with their South East Asian brothers. The Philippines is the founder of Association of South East Asian Nations. Also, the Mall of Asia is located in the Philippines. A lot of Pacific Islanders are now starting to get annoyed by Filipinos identity crisis and wish they would just admit they are Asian.
pacific islanders
May is the month that Asian and pacific islanders celebrate there entrance into America, the land of the free. History is very interesting and is well documented for further information.

Officially, of course, Filipinos are categorized as Asians and the Philippines as part of South-east Asia. But describing Filipinos as Pacific Islanders isn't necessarily wrong either. In fact, for a long time, Filipinos were known as Pacific Islanders.

No! Guam is an island in the pacific ocean. We are pacific islanders, but we are a u.s. Territory. The only reason people think that is because there are many asians and Filipinos living there (because it is really close to the filipines and Asia.)
