The gasteracantha cancriformis is a type of spider known by many different names including spiny orb weaver, jewel spider, and smiley face spider. The bite of this spider causes a burning sensation that is often described like that of a fire ant bite. However, besides the burning sensation the bite is not dangerous in any other way for most people.
Gasteracantha cancriformis was created in 1758.

Well...I didn't want to say this but... Ken the Bug Guy has some for sale at his website www.ken the bug guy.com. He has no pic of it though, but they are a very exotic looking spider that would be great for any collection of spider keepers. Although I have no real info on how to keep one, their must be SOME way to care for them; mustn't be hard, probably need to keep them warm and have plenty of space to make a cozy web and lightly mist their enclosure every now and again. Hope this helps.
Possibly some species of gasteracantha or micrathena.
