- Yes, German Shepherds are brilliant dogs and they are very loyal. They will protect you too. iI have a German Shepherd and she is very loyal, loves kids and gets along with other dogs too. I would defiantly recommend a German Shepherd as a pet.

They need a firm but kind owner and not an aggressive mean one.

Poor training will produce poorly behaved dogs that do not get along and can be aggressive. Firm training will produce highly trained and sound of mind animals. I recommend German Shepherds, as an owner of 2, and a Mom of 2 little ones, I see how protective yet loving additions to the family they can make.
