No the company was purchased by the wal family in 1987 and all rights to the company are now controlled by wal-mart and if you have any questions on they make of the product or warranty you have to jump through about 100 hoops of fire to get the information out of wal-mart but it can be done if you're patient.
A magnet
Herman Survivors boots are made by Walmart. They own the name, and they manufacture the boot.A short history:Herman Survivors boots were originally made by the Herman family, until they were purchased by Stride Rite. In 1990, the name changed hands again when they were bought by Work 'N Gear. Finally, Work 'N Gear sold to Walmart in 2001. Walmart has made the boots ever since.
they come from China what a bunch of slow people
Herman bought them in the early 80's I believe and sold boots under the Herman Santa Rosa brand. The Santa Rosa trademark expired in the late 70's so they may not have been producing shoes/boots when Herman bought the brand. Not sure if Herman bought the company or just the rights to the brand. Of course Herman was later purchased by Wal-Mart. Check with the historical society for Santa Rosa. They might have more info.
Gore Tex boots are actually quite inexpensive when compared to other boots that share the same purpose.
