Not much is publically known about the inner circle activities of Masons, also known as Freemasons. But, they are considered a religious organization. Because of the religious nature of their activities, whenever a member of the Masons wishes to become one of Jehovah's Witnesses, they must relinquish their membership in the Masonic organization, as would any person belonging to any other religious group.

While some have confused Jehovah's Witnesses with other religions, there are no ties between JW's and any other religious organization.

There are no spiritistic rites practiced by JW's. All of our meetings are non-secretive, and open to the public. Each meeting of JW's are an unceremonious session of Biblical instruction, preceeded by a simple song and prayer, and ending in another simple song and prayer.

Some would also claim that Charles Taze Russel the modern day founder of Jehovah's witnesses was a mason, however any ties with the masons and all other religious and spiritistic worship were cut. An as the witnesses progressed inlight and truth more things became unacceptable for example in the 1970's smoking was no longer allowed as it was considered a defilemnt of the flesh.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not have any affiliation or ties with the Masonic fraternity or any other secret societies. They believe that participation in such organizations contradicts their religious principles and teachings, and therefore discourage involvement with them. Jehovah's Witnesses prioritize their devotion to God and adhere strictly to the doctrines outlined in The Bible.

Why did the Roman Catholic Church ban Masonic participation?

It's a complex question, and you should check the online Catholic Encyclopedia. Originally one of the reasons the Catholic Church was anti-Masonic was that Masons are democratic. A current objection is that Masonry is a religion, and does not support the trinity. Masonry of course is not a religion, so the question of promoting one kind of religion is moot. Masonry is not anti-Catholic any more than the Lions or Rotary are, and many of its members are Roman Catholics.
