Jehovah WitnessesAs with any large group of people (there are 6 million Jehovah's Witnesses), it seems reasonable to conclude that there would be a variety of personalities therein. Regarding their reputation as a whole there are a number of documented instances where the contribution of Jehovah's witnesses to 'good works' such as disaster relief measures, contribution to literacy and systematic acts of kindness , have gained them a reputation as on the whole being honest, hard working law abiding individuals. Additional Opinions and Input from Contributors:
  • Well I surely hope we are good people. I mean we try our best, and so what if there are many different personalities that doesn't make somebody who acts in another way than you would, a bad person. And correction there are 7 million Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide and there will continue to be more on a daily basis. We try our best to teach from The Bible and those we teach have different views about us and they have their own beliefs and we respect that to the best of our ability. I know there are some people who would slam the door in my face immediately if they knew I was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and yet there are others who would take the time to at least listen to what I have to say before they do such a thing. I try to be respectful to all people and I truly hope that makes me a good person. All we ask is that you hear what we have to say- then it's your choice to take it or leave it.
  • I'm a Jehovah's witness, of course we are sincere and spiritual people. We learned from Jehovah our god and his son ruling in heaven. We preach, go to meetings, and do interactive things. I stand for Jehovah and truly believe everything in the bible he has provided us with.
  • I am sure JWs mean well. I will not judge JWs as people but, as a Christian- I am compelled to judge their beliefs. All orthodox Christian Churches that have adhered to the belief in Jesus as God incarnate, (a belief since the earliest Church of the first Century), utterly reject JW beliefs as their beliefs are contrary to scripture and are based solely of their founder's warped idea of 'Christianity' which denies that Jesus is Lord and God incarnate, denies the Trinity, and interprets their own altered and skewed version of the Bible. Not only that, but as they regard themselves as the only 'true' church and they themselves will be the only people in heaven, they consign all Christians in this world to hell, regard the Christians' most sacred beliefs (such as the Trinity) as the work of the devil, and therefore, by default, regard all Christians as in cahoots with Satan. So- Whilst no doubt JWs themselves are sincere people, and have been cited as doing good work, their beliefs are sincerely wrong. Even the good works they do could, to the cynic, be tarnished by their motives as one of their beliefs is salvation through works. To say, however, that they themselves are 'good' or 'not good' would be to judge them and we are told by Christ himself that we should never judge others Let's just say, however, that, while they mean well, they are very misguided.
  • Wouldn't any religious person claim someone of a different religion/sect to be misguided or wrong!? Many religions claim their religion is true and will lead to salvation, but then how can that possibly be, they can't all be right? The question simply asks- are Jehovah Witnesses good people? The answer is that a good person is one who is good on an individual level- JW's do actively proselyltize, and this may be annoying to some- but does that make them a bad people on a whole? There bad seeds within the JW religion- the same as there are in every religion.

Jehovah's Witnesses are human, which means we make mistakes because we are not perfect.

Good and bad are relative terms. We try to live by Godly principles as outlined in Scripture, and so we try to be good. In this system we will never be as good as we will be when sin and imperfection is gone.

Some among us give into temptation and then will not repent, and the Bible tells us how to deal with them. (1 Corinthians 5:11-13)

The thing about it is, we do not say the person is good or bad, but what they do is good or bad. Jesus said no one is good but God. In that sense we are not good. However, that is the goal toward which we are pressing.
