The body is first ritually cleaned, blessed, wrapped in a plain white sheet, and the deceased is buried lying down on his back in a regular wood coffin, barefooted, in a regular grave (in a Jewish cemetery - one which has been sanctified), and with a headstone that is unveiled one year from the individual's death. Said headstone should be no bigger than the average of all the others in the cemetery so as not to raise the status of the deceased over any of the other souls who rest there. No flowers at the gravesite either. Visitors/mourners place a small stone on the headstone to indicate that they've paid their respects.
