While the screen sizes are similar, the device sizes are noticeably different. The kindle fire has a thicker screen frame and is easily twice the weight and thickness of a normal kindle. The size difference is likely meant to accommodate for the larger battery needed to power the lit touch screen that the kindle lacks. It's still a relatively small device but resembles a tablet in size more than a kindle does.
It very well depends on the tablet. You can get tablets in various sizes.
The Kindle Fire's external dimensions are 7.5 × 4.7 × 0.45 inches (191 × 119 × 11 mm). The visible area of the screen is 6 × 3.5 inches (152 × 89 mm).
The page size of a Kindle varies depending on the device and text settings, but it generally does not align with the exact size of a physical book page. Kindles allow for customization of font size and spacing, so the amount of text displayed on each "page" can be adjusted to suit individual preferences.

Locations are the digital answer to page numbers. Changing the text size on Kindle also changes the page numbering, but with locations, you return to the same place every time regardless of the text size.
Yes the kindle Fire is way better. I have used both and the kindle fire is faster, betters battery life, better touch screen, and has more space. Even though the kindle fire only has 8 gb and the nook tablet has 16 gb the kindle fire has unlimited space in the cloud. The kindle fires videos and movies look so much better then the nooks. Also with the nook you have to go on your laptop to download music to it. Or buy pandora witch has bad songs. Volume on the kindle fire is so much better. There the same size but the kindle fire feels so much better. Also the kindle fire is 50$ cheaper.
The best covers for a Kindle are ones that have been made for a specific model. For example M-Edge Kindle covers come in a range of sizes depending on which Kindle you have.
Depends on the case design, but it will not be a snug fit since the K2 is a bit larger. Have you tried looking at some of the smaller manufacturer of Kindle covers? I've dealt with Joe V. Leather before and they custom fitted my K1 into one of their cases. Turn around was decent and price very affordable. Not unless it's a very loose case (in which case, why bother?). If you look at pictures, the K1 and K2 are different in shape and size, so I'd say don't try.
A kindle can hold up to 500 books but it depends whether you use an sd card or not how the memory size of the card
You can adjust the text size in Kindle books by going to the Aa menu while reading a book. From there, you can increase the font size to make the text larger and easier to read.
