The reason most people are in favor of them is because they are low cost, but still decent. If you are willing to put out extra money to get high performance tires, then you might find something more expensive that suits your desires, but Nexen gives you a lot of bang for your buck and would work just fine.
They are good for the price. Nexxen is an off brand Korean tire, however, they have developed a decent reputation for quality. It's not a Bridgestone or a Michelin, but it seems to be a decent lower cost alternative.
Although the third largest tire maker in Korea, NEXEN is the oldest. NEXEN's CEO Hyun-Bong Lee was previously CEO of Samsung. Their are not a small company by any means. My Toyota Rav4 in California came with YOKOHAMA. When I had to buy new tires, The YOKOHAMA was 65% more expensive then NEXEN. What do you think I did? I spent $400 instead of $660. And all that before taxes and labor. After a extensive web research understandood that, any tire has to reach certain standards of quality to be sold in the USA. Mine are performing jus fine.
