Yes, they are very reliable. The older rotary engines of the 80's did have some issues with burning oil and poor fuel economy but those issues have been fixed.

Honeywell, Rolls-Royce, General Electric are the main suppliers of jet engines. My opinion is they are all very reliable due to development, testing, and more testing. Therefore, the main factor in safety and reliability of jet engines is the required periodic maintenance and repair/overhaul.
Turbo driven engines have more high-speed moving parts and so can be prone to wear and tear more than superchargers.
