Are Social Networks like Blizzbook Warcraft Social and WoW Meeting Stone for World of Warcraft a good idea?

There's not a clear-cut answer to this question. Clearly there is some need for World of Warcraft players to stay connected, and it's the latest trend to stay connected all the time via social media. Blizzard even implemented their own RealID, allowing you to talk to other players all the time and invite people via facebook.

The real debate comes with the question of privacy. Not everyone appreciates being known as a WoW player in their daily life, and when it was announced all forum posters in WoW would show up with their real name, many rebelled against this.

In the end, it would seem that the WoW-specific social networks live under the same restrictions, benefits and drawbacks as all other social networks. While they allow for a rich social life online, and make it easier to share your experiences with others, they also open you up for ridicule from internet bullies and may blur the line between your WoW time and real life.
