No, but the rules were different for each. Same-sex couples had to both be 18-years-old or older to register. Opposite-sex couples had to be 62-years-old or older. No new domestic partnerships can be registered in New Jersey after February 19, 2007, although older ones are still legally recognized under NJ state law, as are domestic partnerships registered in other states, regardless of date.

No. But, same-sex couples must both be at least 18 years of age and opposite-sex couples must both be at least 62 years of age to register.

However, on June 30, 2014, all state-registered Washington state domestic partnerships that have not been dissolved by that date will automatically convert to marriages, regardless of where the parties to the marriage live. After that date, state registered domestic partnerships will only be available in Washington state to persons sixty-two years of age or older.
