No, you normally can't. Such ads are just that: ads. When asked for your details, they will provide you with some small token as your "grand prize" then sell your details on to other companies who will spam you incessantly.

Usually what the politicians say in their ads are true. The reason why they would be true is because if their statistics were skewed from an official poll, than voters wouldn't trust a liar and wouldn't end up voting for him/her.
Smoking ads are actually banned in most countries, but the ads are trying to say "Buy our stuff" ultimately. They often use techniques such as happy people smoking, and a sexually attractive person smoking to improve their image so you are more likely to do what they are trying to say.
