"Made in the US" means that all parts to a product were manufactured in the United States. "Final assembly in the US" means that parts may have been manufactured outside the country, but it was put together in the U.S.

Such situation is pretty normal.
It depends on part and brand. For instance, if you get Aisin, it's Japanese as well as Denso (not all parts). Some parts are produced in US, but most of them in Chine or South America

I live in Nashville,Tn. and we have an assembly plant in Smyrna. That's right outside of Nashville. I'd guess all or most of the parts are made overseas.
Some of the early Iver Johnson M1 carbines were made of surplus G I parts. So some if not all parts interchange. The is true of the early M1 carbines made by Plainfield. Hope this helps. Keith
