Yes
Tubas are made of metal, frequently brass, hence the name "brasswind" (trumpets, trombones, tubas, etc). This is as opposed to "woodwind" (like flutes and clarinets)
Strings: because the sound is produced from vibrating strings. Woodwinds: because most of them are made of wood, and air is blown through them Brass: because all the instruments are made of brass Percussion: instruments where the sound is produced by a physical strike

All of these instruments are constructed in wood. This is the only similarity.
In an orchestra an oboe is part of the woodwind section. The technique is no different than at any other time you play the oboe. Orchestras divide instruments produced by blowing sound through a tube into brass and woodwinds. Brass instruments: trumpets, trombones, etc., at one time were all made of brass. Woodwinds were made of wood, or used a reed, or blew across a hole. Thus, a silver flute is a woodwind. Ravel put a sax in an orchestra in the woodwinds.
Brass instruments do not have reeds, some woodwind instruments do.
Seriously? No, seriously? The trumpet belongs to the brass family because it is MADE of BRASS, as are all instruments in the BRASS family...
They are not brass instruments. They are woodwind instruments.
Brass makes Brass instruments for example, the Tuba, trumpet, euphonium, and trombone are ALL made of brass
Oh, dude, it's like comparing apples and oranges! The Wind Ensemble is all about those woodwinds and brass instruments, while the Symphonic Orchestra brings in the strings. It's like choosing between a burrito and a burger - both delicious, just different flavors, you know?
The only common thing between all brass instruments are that they are made of at least half brass and they all need a mouth piece. There is also the same breathing techniques, though they can differ. For example, the theory that everything that is played is a long tone. Please note that I am not counting woodwind instruments, like saxophone, as brass instruments. If I did so there would be nothing in common with all brass instruments. I hope this helped!
The tuba, the trumpet, the trombone and the french horn are all members of the brass family. However, not all instruments made from brass are members of the brass family. For example, the saxophone is typically made of brass, but it is a member of the woodwind family.
