If by "eat" you mean digest, then yes, they do eat insects. Insectivorous plants live in poor-soil environment, so while they don't lack in photosynthetic capability, they lack in crucial minerals and other things that are found in the soil. To compensate for this, they eat insects to get the nutrition they would normally get from the soil.

No, because not all insects do the same thing. For example a Ladybug helps plants by eating the bugs that destroy the plant.

To my accuracy insects such as caterpillars eat leaves which is a type of plant. Caterpillar also eat wild berries and many leftover scraps.
