Most people do get baptised when they accept Christ as their Savior. Different denominations have differing rituals and or methods by which they go about the baptism. Baptism comes after conviction of sin, repentance of sin, confession of Christ as Lord and Savior.
All who repent, get baptized and follow Jesus by imitating Him - meaning of disciple.
Baptism takes away our sins and it was prefigured through water because water cleanses. Thus, we are being washed by water. In order to fulfill those prefigurations, Jesus Christ had Himself baptized by St. John the Baptist in the Jordan River. Answer Jesus was not baptized of John because he needed to be, he was baptized as an example of what was required of all of us. Though He was perfect He set an example for all of us to follow..
Jesus being baptized was a way for him to show obedience to God and set an example for others to follow. It was a way for him to fulfill all righteousness, meaning he was doing what was right and fulfilling God's plan for him.
Jesus was baptized in the Jordan river and i do not know when it was all i know is that he was in his 30's(at least i think)
The priesthood of all believers is conferred at baptism. Each individual Christian is baptized as a priest, prophet, and king, and, as a priest, is empowered to offer sacrifice to God. This is not the same as the ministerial priesthood, which offers the one sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, but is the common priesthood of all baptized Christians who offer the sacrifice of their lives to be crucified with Jesus, as they deny themselves to follow Him.
of all your sins and pronounces you to Christianity because Jesus was baptized.
A disciple is a student. All those that follow the teachings of Jesus and strive to learn from him are his disciples.
Jesus Christ was baptized in order to do what His Father commanded Him. As the Savior said to John the Baptist, "Suffer it to be so now, for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness" (Matthew 3:15). But why was it necessary? The Savior Jesus Christ was perfect, and so had no need to be baptized for the remission of sins. But baptism is necessary in order to return into the presence of God, " He that beleiveth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:16). It shows us the perfect example, that all are needed to enter in at the gate of baptism and receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost. It also shows us a type and shadow of things that will come in the future. Paul identifies this in Romans. " Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:3-4)And now, if the Lamb of God who is holy, has need to be baptized with water, how much more do we, being sinners have need to baptized, even in water? He has asked us to follow Him, but how can we follow Him unless we obey the Father? The Father has asked us to all be baptized by His authority. At the time of Jesus, John the Baptist was the only one with authority from God.
Common priesthood probably refers to the priesthood of all believers and is conferred at baptism.
Upon baptism, you're offering yourself to God and your soul will be cleansed of all sins. Jesus died for our sins, so asking God to purify us in the name of Jesus Christ will make it happen.
As Jesus wanted to have all of his disciples baptized, he followed his example and was baptized. I believe it was his self recognition and the outward sign of his acceptance of his role - his self-dedication to God. This dedication is an important element of modern baptism.
Mattthew 3 [13] Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.[14] But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?[15] And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.Answer2: Some six months after John begins preaching Jesus comes to him to be baptized. John tried to prevent him; Matthew 3:14-15 says "I am the one who needs to be baptized by you, and are you coming to me. Jesus replied to him: "Let it be this time for in that way it is suitale for us to carry out all that is righteous." Then he quit preventing him.
