Do animals in zoo live longer than animals in the wild?

It depens on what animal you mean some live longer in captivity and some live shorter lives in captivity, but normally animals have much better lives in Zoos some zoos that is. Not all Zoos treat animals well. But I have to say the NC Zoo is one of the best jkjk

Should animals be kept in zoos and why?

actually if animals are born in captivity they should not be released because they do not have the parents or instincts to help them learn to find food and survive. Think of it this way, if a tiger was born in a zoo and you released it it would die because it didn't have it's parents in the wild to teach it how to hunt and do other things to stay alive, so animals born in captivity must stay in captivity. they should be kept free because they can have space to move and communicate with relatives and plus if they were in zoos they would communicate through glass which they are suppose to comunicate together.. hope this workss

How are animals seen in captivity?

Animals are seen in captivity with zoos, farms, wildlife parks, aquariums, marine parks and as pets. Many groups, such as PETA, do not believe that animals should be held in captivity for any purpose. Others believe that captive breeding of animals is often the only way to protect some species from extinction. Some view zoos and aquariums as necessary for research in order to improve the lives of wild animals, while others believe that they are cruel cages.

Is there more reproduction in captivity or the wild?

More animals breed in the wild than in captivity. However for endangered species, zoos are a way of keeping the species alive and allowing for diversity.

Do animals loss hunting instincts from zoos?

Animals lose their survival instincts in captivity this is because they are not exposed to their natural habitat. If these animals are brought back into the wild, they will most likely not survive.

Should zoos close down forever?

Absolutely not. Zoos have been instrumental in the conservation and repopulation of certain species. They also inspire the love of nature in millions of children. Animals which populate zoos are typically unfit for the wild, and are given a second chance to happily live in captivity. I think it would be a terrible loss for people, and animals if zoos were shut down.

How do the animals get to the zoo?

simple.explorers go to forest and islands where certain species are and they cath the animal but you have to be brave to do that! well, not so much any more. Maybe with some local species. Sometimes they will take in nuisance bears that were becoming a threat to people in the wild. But most animals in zoos now were born in captivity. AZA zoos trade with each other for breeding programs, and offspring are often sent out to other zoos. Also sometimes zoos take in rescue animals that were being kept illegally as exotic pets.

What do zoos provide for the animals?

The effects of living in a zoo an animal experiences depends on the type of animal and whether or not the animal was born in captivity. Many animals are clearly stressed by being held in captivity and show signs of depression and mental illness.

How often do animals in captivity get sick?

often because they might be overfed and the germs that come when whe snese in zoos mean that the germs might travel

Why is life different for animals in captivity?

Animals in captivity tend to live longer because they are better cared for versus animals in the wild who have to fend for themselves. Captive animals are fed on a regular basis, have no predators and are generally more healthy. That is the reason why majority of the zoos are intended to preserve a species and act as a sanctuary for the endangered animals. All though some zoos bring sick or injured animals into their sanctuaries sounds good, it is sometimes not. In some zoos the animals are released when they are better but the forget some things. For example a turtle who got stuck in beer can rings was taken to a zoo and had to be in a wagon as it lost circulation in it's legs and is still living today however if it was not in captivity it most likely would have died of suffocation not long after.

Is animals better life in zoo or forest?

Usually, animals raised in captivity are released into the wild when they are full grown. And it also depends on the habitat, but I think the wild is better for them.
